University of Louisville

Founded in 1798 as one of the nation’s first city-owned, public universities, the University of Louisville (UofL) is a vital ecosystem that creates thriving futures for students, our community and society. One of only 84 universities in the United States to earn recognition by the Carnegie Foundation as both a Research 1 and a Community Engaged university, we impact lives in areas of student success and research and innovation, while our dynamic connection with our local and global communities provides unparalleled opportunities for students and citizens both.

Why you should attend?

Military-connected students represent more than ten percent of university enrollment. We were 1 of 37 Carnegie Tier 1 Research institutions to earn Military Friendly® Gold designation for 2023-2024. Gold institutions have “leading practices, outcomes, and effective programs”. We earned Military Times Best for Vets designation for 2023. Student completion, retention, persistence, and GPA are the most important factors in determining ranking on this list. We waive application fees and offer priority course registration to currently serving members and veterans. We offer undergraduate, and most graduate credits at $250 per credit hour for Active Duty, qualifying National Guard and Reserve members.
