Our 2016 Advisory Council members are:

William A. Baas • V.P. of Talent Acquisition • Comcast
Will leads initiatives across Comcast and in coordination with NBCUniversal to engage, attract, and hire executives, undergraduate and MBA students, and transitioning military and veterans. He coordinates enterprise strategy on military outreach and recruitment resulting in 3,700 veteran hires over last 3 years. He is an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
 
Michael Bernard • Federal Recruiting Team • Deloitte
Mike leads Deloitte’s firmwide Military & Veteran Recruitment Programs. In this role Mike is responsible for building, leading and growing Military and Veteran Programs, developing and driving the recruitment strategy, and establishing accountability across all functions within the firm. Mike has been in the recruiting industry for over fifteen years and is a regular speaker at conferences, career fairs and transition assistance program events.
 
William E. Brown • Director, Military Connection Center • Old Dominion University
In his current role, Bill supports the over 6,000 military affiliated students attending ODU. He and his staff assist veterans, military members and their families to successfully navigate the transition to academic life from the point of admission through graduation and on to a productive career. Bill served as an officer in the U.S. Army for 24 years.
 
Jason Burke • Director of Veteran & Military Affairs • Quinnipiac University
Jason is a veteran and military student advocate and veteran benefits administrator. In his role at Quinnipiac, he acts as the link between university staff and students, and builds relationships with local and regional military community. Jason served as a Naval Aviator in the U.S. Navy.
 
Candee Chambers • V.P. of Compliance & Partnerships • DirectEmployers Association
Candee leads DE's compliance initiatives, oversees strategic partnerships to share job opportunities with job seekers, and manages the Association's National Association of State Workforce Agencies relationship. Candee also provides guidance on compliance matters related to Affirmative Action regulations, outreach responsibilities and employee selection.
 
James Dubinsky
James M. Dubinsky, PhD • Chair, Veterans Caucus / Associate Professor • Virginia Tech
Jim served 28 years in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves, including a tour on the faculty at the US Military Academy. Since 1998 he has been on the faculty at Virginia Tech. His advocacy for veterans and their families has been the impetus for projects including three Veterans in Society (ViS) conferences and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEH) Summer Institute on Veterans in American Society. He serves as chair of the newly formed Veterans Caucus.
 
Mark Eister • Director of Military Outreach • Perimeter College at Georgia State University
A 21-year U.S. Army veteran, Mark creates a vision for inclusion that addresses the unique needs of military students and their family members. Among his roles, he increases awareness of the educational and social challenges and needs of active duty and veteran students across six GSU campuses; plans, organizes and directs activities related to military students to support their retention and graduation; and directs the daily functions and staff of the Military Outreach Center.
 
Dean Espenschied • Labor Representative • Archer Daniels Midland Company
Dean acts as a liaison between employees and management and offers guidance when conflict arises. A key area of emphasis for Dean is to expand the company's Military and Veteran hiring initiatives and outreach, recognizing the value in the attributes of our nation's military members and veterans. He served as a member of the Illinois Army National Guard.
 
Allen G. Garber • Chief Administrative Officer • CDA Technical Institute
Allen has been a recreational diver since 1974 and involved in the marine industry for over twenty years. At CDA Technical Institute, a veteran-owned and operated school, he directs business development activities and is responsible for all marketing, recruiting and promotion of the school and its commercial diving programs.
 
Randy Goldberg • V.P. of Talent Acquisition • Republic Services Procurement, Inc.
Randy oversees all recruiting and talent acquisition processes for Republic. He brings a wealth of experience to his role in organizational development, including talent selection, recruiting, training, succession planning, performance management, HR systems and executive coaching, and recruiting optimization.
 
Vivian Greentree, PhD • Senior Vice President, Head of Military and Veteran Affairs • First Data Corporation
Vivian joined First Data as a Senior Vice President and Head of Military and Veteran Affairs in February 2014. In this role Vivian created First Data Salutes, a company-wide military engagement strategy to provide the military community with access to career opportunities and best-in-class education resources, while offering premier business solutions to veteran-owned businesses.
 
Barbara Halverson • SVP, Human Resources • Combined Insurance
As a direct report to the President of Combined, Barbara is responsible for strategically aligning human capital with business goals including talent management, compensation, benefits, performance management, talent acquisition, communications, employee relations, organizational effectiveness, training/development and the company's military programs.
 
Annie Julian • Associate Director of Student Affairs • Carnegie Mellon University, Heinz College
Annie's career at CMU began as a career advisor in the school of public policy and then as a key member of the Master's Admissions team for the Tepper School of Business. In her current role, she is focused on ensuring success for all students, fostering personal growth on campus and to help them prepare for future careers.
 
Matt Kaczynski • Regional Human Resources Manager • J.B. Hunt Transport
Matt provides human resources guidance for three of J.B. Hunt's business units in the field: Dedicated Contract Services, Intermodal and Integrated Capacity Solutions. His experience includes training and development, personnel management, employee relations, and veteran recruiting. He served as a member in the U.S. Navy.
 
Tim Keefe • Vice President, Global Communications • JPMorgan Chase & Co.
Tim provides public relations and marketing support for the firm, with a background in military and veterans initiatives in the areas of veterans employment, home ownership, and financial education. Tim brings a wealth of experience from his service with the U.S. Marine Corps, including in the area of public affairs and media operations.
 
Avery King
Avery King • Military Veteran/Military Spouse Talent Acquisition Lead • Hospital Corporation of America
Avery is responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of HCA’s Military Veteran and Military Spouse recruiting, hiring, and retention programs. This includes but is not limited to the development of strategic recruiting/hiring initiatives and programs to encourage companywide support of Military Veterans and Military Spouses. Avery is also a veteran mentor through American Corporate Partners and a board member of REBOOT Combat Recovery.
 
Amy Newendorp • Talent Acquisition Operations Lead • US Foods
As a military recruitment and operations leader, Amy has helped companies connect transitioning service personnel, veterans and their families with career opportunities. Her passion for diversity, inclusion and military talent has contributed to two corporations being named as Military Friendly® Employers the first year they participated, twice. Amy is the proud daughter of her father who served in the U.S. Army and uncle who served in the U.S. Air Force.
 
William Offutt • Managing Director • Military Recruiting Consultants
From 2003-2009, Bill served as Executive Director of the National HireVetsFirst campaign in the office of the Assistant Secretary, Veterans’ Employment and Training (VETS) at the U.S. Department of Labor. During this time he also served as Executive Director of the President’s National Hire Veterans Committee. Bill served with distinction in Vietnam.

Tiffany brings a wealth of recruiting, HR and talent experience to Cummins and the Advisory Council. She is a Certified Diversity Executive.
 
Chris Phillips • Diversity Specialist, Military & Disabilities Officer, Talent Management • PNC Financial Services Group
In her role at PNC, Chris promotes the hiring of Military Talent by the bank and forms long-term relationships with companies and organizations dedicated to hiring Military Talent. She also serves on the Board of Directors with the Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania.
 
Teri Poulton
Teri Poulton • Director, Strategic Relationships Veteran Outreach • BP Corporation North America Inc.
A U.S. Air Force veterans, Teri has served as Director of Veteran Outreach since early 2014. In her role, she leads the development and execution of a broad strategy, including aspects of corporate social responsibility, government affairs, business relationships, employee engagement, communications and recruitment. Teri serves as the national leader of BP Veterans Business Resource Group and as a board member of the Lone Star Veterans Association.
 
Tim Shubzda • Director Philanthropy & Military Initiatives • J. C. Penney Company, Inc.
Tim supports military initiatives for one of the nation's largest apparel and home furnishing retailers, including work on programs that make military customers' lives a little easier and committing to making the company a military-friendly workplace for veterans and military employees. He served as a pilot with the U.S. Navy and continues to serve in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
 
Esmeralda Silva • Associate VP Strategic Business Initiatives & Military & Veterans Relations • Trident University International
Esmeralda creates and implements integrated strategies to ensure a university-wide focus on success for all students, including veterans. She serves as President of the California Advisory Council on Military Education and is a member of LA Veteran Collaboration-Higher Education Working Group.
 
Kevin Spain
Kevin Spain • Senior Recruiter • CDI Corporation-Government Services
Kevin has served as the corporate military recruiting lead for numerous companies, most recently connecting veterans to high tech positions. He holds a degree in Business with a concentration in Human Resources, and also graduated from the U.S. Navy’s Career Recruiting Force Academy, a recruiting management course for the Navy’s best recruiters. Kevin served 20 years in the U.S Navy.
 
Richard Stone • Military Recruitment Program Specialist • The Western & Southern Life Insurance Company
Richard is a talent acquisition professional who leads efforts for the company's Military Recruitment Program, and is committed to connecting veterans and military candidates with opportunities at Western & Southern Life Insurance. Richard served for 10 years active duty in the U.S. Air Force.
 
Tom Tice • Military Talent Acquisition, Recruiting Manager • Starbucks
Tom leads the military and veteran talent acquisition team and corporate strategy for Starbucks to attract top-quality retail and enterprise talent. He also acts as a liaison with military transition assistance offices, military installations and groups that support Veterans, Spouses and Wounded Warriors. Tom served for more than 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps.
 
Nick Tran • Manager of Veteran Programs • Cameron, a Schlumberger company
Nick is Military Recruitment Program Manager for Cameron International and leads military veteran recruitment operations for Cameron and OneSubsea, LLC. Previously, Nick was the Talent Acquisition Manager for Express Energy Services and prior to that, Recruiting Manager for Igloo Products Corp. Nick served in the U.S. Army for 13 years. His experience included several combat deployments and he earned numerous military decorations for his service.
 
Albert Vanzant

Albert actively focuses on recruiting current and prior service members into the CB&I organization. He is responsible for handling all military recruiting functions for the company; additionally, he assists The Shaw Group with specific projects and recruiting efforts for veterans. Albert currently serves as Brigade Command Sergeant Major, 61 Troop Command in Louisiana, with the U.S. Army National Guard.
 
Amanda Veinott

Her expertise revolves around educating companies and clients on how to recruit, hire and retain service members, veterans and military talent within their respective workforces. She is a sought-after thought leader on veterans recruiting, hiring, engagement and retention, and often appears on panels throughout the country.

Having served as CFO, licensed pastor, book publisher, fundraising and marketing strategist in his career, Corey brings a varied background to the Advisory Council. He currently is a writer at Hyundai Motor America, where he focused on speech writing, editing, technical writing, social media management, and presentations for marketing and executive staff.
